Lupus

Lupus is one of the most misdiagnosed illnesses in the world. A disease of the immune system, left untreated it can be fatal. A facial rash, and arthritic type pain are just two of the symptoms.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is an autoimmune disease that causes the body's own immune system to "attack" itself, causing inflammations of the skin, joints, blood and kidneys. Lupus can effect many organs of the body including the kidneys, brain, heart, lungs and gastrointestinal tract, and left untreated can be fatal.

Millions of people have been reported as being diagnosed with Lupus and thus, this is not an uncommon disease. Women of child-bearing age and of minority descent tend to be at the greatest risk according to statistics, though cases have been reported in small children and elderly adults. Lupus has effected hundreds of thousands of men and women of all ages.
